World Asma Day 2018


Never Too Early, never Too Late


Asthma is a health problem in both developed countries and in developing countries such as Indonesia. The world’s estimated 300 million people suffer from asthma. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 15 million disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) lost each year because of asthma (both on morbidity or due to premature death). In addition, WHO also estimates that 250,000 deaths due to asthma every year.

World Asthma Day is an annual event which falls on Tuesday in the first week of May that raised by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to improve asthma awareness and concern worldwide. First celebrated in 1998 in more than 35 countries, with the first World Asthma Meeting held in Barcelona, Spain. The World Asthma Day 2018 falls on May 1, the theme “Never too Early never too Late”.

In order to celebrate the 2018 global Asthma Association of Physicians Pulmonary Indonesia (PDPI) Malang Branch will hold some activities, it is socialization of WAD in Lung Poly RSSA Malang and Bronchial Asthma-themed Competition for Medical Students which will be held on May 12, 2018, Saturday , located at  room Majapahit RSSA Malang.
