The Dermatology and Venereology Specialist Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya (PS PDS DV FKUB) was first established in 2010 and accepted Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) participants in 2011. This pilot was initiated by a collaboration between Universitas Brawijaya and Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, where since 2004 PS PDS DV FKUB has been educating participants of PPDS Dermatology and Venereology Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga. In the initial stage, 2 PPDS participants were sent to carry out education at PS PDS DV FKUB for 2 semesters (Semester 1 and semester 2). After evaluation and visitation by the Collegium and FK Unair, the length of study at PS PDS DV FKUB was increased to 4 semesters (Semester 1 to 4) with 4 PPDS participants. Since 2007, the Education Program for Specialist Doctors in Skin and Gender Health Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, has sent 7 PPDS participants to study at PS PDS DV FKUB for 7 full semesters.
Since 2017, based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia number 154 of 2014 concerning Clumps of Science and Technology and Degrees of Higher Education Graduates, the nomenclature of the title Skin and Gender Specialist (Sp.KK) was changed to Dermatology and Venereology Specialist (Sp.DV). Other nomenclature changes, namely since 2017, based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia number 257 / M / KPT / 2017 concerning changes in the name of study programs and degrees and the Decree of the Director General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia number 46 / B / HK / 2019 concerning the list of names of Study Programs in Higher Education Director General of Learning and Student Affairs, the name of the Skin and Gender Health Science Study Program (IKKK) became the Dermatology and Venereology (DV) Study Program. Changes in the title and name of the study program are carried out in stages, graduates with the title Sp.DV at PS PDS DV FKUB began to be applied since 2019, for changes in the nomenclature of the Study Program are in the process of submitting changes. The permit to establish the study program and the operational permit of the study program was based on a Decree from the Directorate General of Higher Education with no. 151/D/O/2010 on October 5, 2010.
