It is known that students as the forerunners of quality Indonesian human resources are expected to master hard skills and soft skills that can support their success in the future. Student affairs institutions are an important factor in student development and student success. Based on the main tasks and functions of student affairs, student services are formulated as follows

  1. Reasoning and creativity development services

The development of student reasoning is expected to produce scientific attitudes, professional attitudes, and student concern for various problems that develop in society. The development of reasoning is a right that must be accepted
by students. In carrying out services in this field, what is carried out by the student affairs in coordination with student organizations is as follows:

    • Carry out student creativity program activities, both independently organized by the university and organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, the National Achievement Center, and/or by other institutions;
    • Carry out writing and publishing activities for books and scientific articles by students;
    • Assisting students to apply and obtain copyrights and registration/obtaining patents;
    • Assisting students in the implementation of research and community service activities;
    • Carry out competition activities in the field of reasoning at the local (university), regional, national and international levels;
    • Compile various academic reports on the implementation of student reasoning and creativity activities.


2. Student interests, talents, and organization services as well as national spiritual mental development

Student interest and talent development activities must be supported by availability that facilitates services to the interests and talents themselves. Student affairs support in the form of intensive coordination with student organizations and other managers such as departments, assisting the implementation and providing direction of interest and talent activities as academic support activities.

Talent development activities for undergraduate students are specifically accommodated under the coordination of the Ministry of Creativity and Sports BEM and each Association. FKUB students also actively participate in interest and talent development competition activities at the national and international levels, the process of which is regulated in the SOP for Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs BEM FKUB. Services in this field include the following:

  • Facilitating the submission and implementation of competitions and/or competitions in areas of interest and talent at the UB, regional, national, and international levels;
  • Facilitate and organize competitions independently in the field of interest and talent (extracurricular);
  • Fostering and developing student institutions so that they become effective and efficient organizations;
  • Compile various academic reports in the field of interest and talent.

3. Soft Skill Development Services;

Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya are required to have competencies in order to compete in the world of work. These competencies are realized by improving hard skills and soft skills. The development of soft skills refers to the Simkatmawa DIKTI indicators, including national mental activities: leadership training, defending the country, norm education, character building ethics and soft skills, anti-corruption, anti-drugs, anti-radicalism, anti-bullying, green campus, and social media. Activities. Soft skills improvement can be carried out in the form of routine activities that have been in the student activity program and can be in the form of incidental activities at the faculty level as well as majors and student organizations.

These services include:

  • Implementation of various leadership trainings, both basic starting from the Introduction to New Student Campus Life forum (PKKMABA) and advanced levels at each LSO / BK;
  • Facilitate and implement student leadership training activities; sending student delegations to leadership training events such as LKMM at each student professional organization;
  • Facilitating and implementing national defense education / entrepreneurship / archipelago insight activities;
  • Facilitating and implementing educational activities of norms, ethics, character building and soft skills of students; education or anti-corruption movements; education or anti-abuse movement of Psychotropic Narcotics and other Addictive Substances (NAPZA); education or anti-radicalism movement;
  • Facilitate and implement sexual violence and bullying prevention campaign activities; healthy campus and/or green campus campaign;
  • Coordinate with student organizations in preparing reports on activities in the field of mental spiritual development of student nationalities.

4. Scholarship Services;

Scholarship services are activities carried out by coordinating with university student affairs in the process of applying for scholarships from various sources that can be accepted by students, facilitating coordination to obtain new scholarship sources whose funding is from non-APBN sources.

Scholarships offered to FKUB students can be differentiated based on academic and economic ability and based on funding sources. Based on the criteria of academic ability and economic limitations, scholarships can be given to: 1) students who excel both in the academic field (GPA) and in the non-academic field, and 2) Scholarships for economically disadvantaged students.

Scholarships based on the origin of the source of funds are grouped into two, namely:

  • Scholarships whose funding sources come from the APBN (State Budget), including: PPA Scholarships (Academic Achievement Improvement); BBP Scholarship (Tuition Fee Assistance) PPA, formerly called BBM; BBP Aims for Mission/Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) and Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik Papua)
  • Scholarships whose funding source comes from PNBP (Foundation/Company) funds.

5. Counseling Guidance Services;

Student counseling guidance aims to help students realize their potential optimally, both for their own interests and environmental demands constructively, able to solve the problems faced realistically, and able to make decisions about various choices rationally so that they are expected to carry out decisions concretely and responsibly, then students need to formulate academic, career and other plans that support their roles as adults.

FKUB Guidance and Counseling in achieving this goal then Performing a series of tasks includes:

  • 1. Conducting regular socialization and refreshing on Guidance and Counseling to all lecturers in collaboration with the University Counseling Guidance Unit and the Academic Assistance Lecturer Team;
  • Socialize the activities and workflow of the Guidance and Counseling team to all students during new student orientation through the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMABA) forum;
  • Carry out the technical tasks and functions listed in the standard operational procedures

6. Health Services;

Health is a very important factor for everyone in living their lives. For students, health factors can affect the quality of learning and can even hinder the length of student study. Student health services are health services related to preventive and relief measures for students while studying at FKUB. Faculty-level health services through UB Clinic and RSUB are held in accordance with applicable provisions based on the UB Rector’s Decree.

Services are carried out in stages with a referral system, namely Pre Hospital Care, UB Clinic, and UB Hospital. If further management is needed in this treatment, it will be referred to UB Clinic or RSUB. The management of health services at UB Clinic and RSUB is in accordance with the attached standard operational procedures. In addition to general health services, For special conditions of students who get a disaster of death, FKUB helps facilitate needs according to certain authorities.

7. Ethical Services;

In the core purpose of education, the development of human character must be accompanied by the development of student ethics. Ethics as a guideline in behaving and behaving which contains outlines of moral values and norms that reflect a scientific, educative, creative, polite, and dignified campus community. The FKUB ethics team in achieving this goal carries out a series of tasks including:

  • Socialization of the outlines of moral values and norms that reflect a scientific, educative, creative, polite, and dignified campus community through new student orientation media through the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMABA) forum and through print media (posters and banners);
  • Carry out the technical tasks and functions listed in the standard operational procedures.

The Academic Community Ethics Commission can receive reports of violations of the code of ethics committed by the academic community, one of which is students. Reporting can be done through study programs that will be followed up by the Ethics Commission.

8. Career Development Services;

In career development services, student affairs coordinates with student organizations to facilitate and carry out activities that require alumni support in the form of resource persons related to the world of work, employment, work and career development potential. Activities carried out can be in the form of routine activities that have been in the student activity program and can be incidental activities at the faculty level as well as majors and student organizations. These services include:

  • Facilitating the implementation of seminars or workshops on student and alumni career management;
  • Carry out alumni tracer study activities;
  • Cooperate with IKA FKUB in the implementation of FKUB Dies activities and other alumni activities;
  • Help strengthen alumni networks and databases; and
  • Compile various academic reports on alumni empowerment activities.

9. Entrepreneurship Development Services.

In the field of entrepreneurship, students and faculty are required to be able to become entrepreneurs. Faculties and universities have a program of activities that have been collaborated in the curriculum as part of academic activities. In the field of student affairs, entrepreneurship services are carried out by collaborating with student organizations to create programs and carry out activities in accordance with work programs and the needs of entrepreneurial activities. Entrepreneurial service activities include:

  • Facilitating the implementation of Student Entrepreneurship Program activities for both faculties, universities, regionally and nationally;
  • Facilitating cooperation with related work units to assist students who will continue their entrepreneurial activities, including internship cooperation with MSMEs and facilitating activities at the student entrepreneurship gallery;
  • Entrepreneurship services are carried out in coordination with student affairs and student organizations as well as related managers such as departments and universities according to the attached standard operational procedures;
  • To increase students’ interest in entrepreneurship, BEM holds KWU Business School activities every year.
